Two of cricket’s most talented, yet rebellious, players stack up against each other when the Deccan Chargers (1.85) clash with the Rajasthan Royals (1.95) at De Beers Diamond Park Oval in Kimberly tonight. The Chargers latest international arrival, Andrew Symonds is one of the most explosive batsmen on the scene, while Rajasthan’s spin legend Shane Warne has been masterful as both Captain and mentor. Who will prevail when these to Aussie greats lead their teams in battle?

IPL match preview:
Deccan Chargers
IPL 2009 so far: Played – 9, Won – 5, Lost -4
After a smooth start to the tournament, team Hyderabad has had a bumpy ride of late – crashing to four losses out of their last five games and barely hanging on to the number four spot on the points table. The return of Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds is a big boost to the team’s chances, as he proved with a quick fire 60 in his first appearance of the season. They need some big knocks from their top players, backed by solid bowling, to prevail.
Best Bet for Deccan Chargers:
Adam Gilchrist -9/10
Andrew Symonds – 9/10
Pragyan Ojha – 8/10
Rohit Sharma – 8/10
Herschel Gibbs – 8/10
Rajasthan Royals
IPL 2009 so far: Played – 10, Won – 5, Lost – 4, N/R – 1
A below par batting performance from Royals did them in against the Super Kings, and their batting line-up needs to step up if they wish to earn a place in the Indian Premier League Semi-Finals. Graeme Smith will shoulder greater responsibility with the willow. If he finds support from the rest of the order, Shane Warne’s Royals will be at their competitive best. However, they will sorely miss the services of Shane Watson, who failed to get medical clearance from Cricket Australia.
Best Bet for Rajasthan Royals:
Yusuf Pathan – 9/10
Graeme Smith- 9/10
Naman Ojha – 8/10
Ravindra Jadeja- 8/10
Shane Warne – 8/10

The second game of the inaugural IPL double-header at De Beers Diamond Oval sees two teams rich in form clash in what is set to be a dynamite encounter. The Chennai Super Kings (1.72) defeated the Rajasthan Royals (2.15) in their previous tie, but since then both sides are beaten – most notably the Royals who, led by Shane Warne, have become a dynamic unit with serious Indian Premier League title credentials.

IPL match preview:
Chennai Super Kings
IPL 2009 so far: Played – 9, Won – 5, Lost -3, N/R – 1
The Chennai Super Kings are finally living up to their potential and the results speak for themselves. However, there fielding has been abysmal. Seven dropped catches and three missed run-out chances in their last two games is a very disturbing trend for any top quality team.
Best Bet for Chennai Super Kings:
Suresh Raina – 9/10
Matthew Hayden – 8/10
S Badrinath – 8/10
Muttiah Muralitharan – 8/10
MS Dhoni – 8/10
Rajasthan Royals
IPL 2009 so far: Played – 9, Won – 5, Lost – 3, N/R – 1
Following another comfortable win, the Royals are slowly, but surely, stamping their authority on the Indian Premier League 2009. Their batting looks solid, and their bowling is intimidating. However, Amit Singh is under investigation for a suspect bowling action and his absence will be another big blow for the Royals this season. Earlier, Kamran Khan was reported for a suspect action after which he never again played a game for the Royals.
Best Bet for Rajasthan Royals:
Yusuf Pathan – 9/10
Graeme Smith- 9/10
Naman Ojha – 9/10
Ravindra Jadeja- 9/10
Munaf Patel – 8/10
Deccan Chargers vs. Kings XI Punjab

Indian Premier League action continues today with the Deccan Chargers (1.80) taking on Kings XI Punjab (2.00) in Kimberley. The Chargers three game rut is over, claiming a scrappy victory over Mumbai in their last outing, while Punjab was gallant in defeat at the hands of Bangalore. This is the first IPL Twenty20 match to be played at the De Beers Diamond Oval, making conditions hard to predict although the wicket gives the impression being true which will favour batsman.

IPL match preview:
Deccan Chargers
IPL 2009 so far: Played – 8, Won – 5, Lost -3
Rohit’s heroics saved the day for the Deccan Chargers in their outing against the Mumbai Indians, although they were left with plenty to ponder after a chaotic performance. The Hyderabad team is too heavily reliant on its openers, and Rohit Sharma, to do the bulk of their scoring – struggling to compete every time any of the above fails to post runs on the board. In their bowling department, the absence of Fidel Edwards is showing, as there is no quality support for RP Singh from other end.
Best Bet for Deccan Chargers:
Rohit Sharma – 10/10
Adam Gilchrist -8/10
RP Singh – 8/10
TS Suman – 8/10
Herschel Gibbs – 7/10
Kings XI Punjab
IPL 2009 so far: Played – 9, Won – 4, Lost -5
An unsuccessful, but ultimately breathtaking run-chase, in their last match will go a long way to inspiring confidence amongst the franchise’s ranks. Their batsmen are in tremendous form, though their bowling is a worry. A focus on disciplined bowling, and a return to the basics, will make Kings XI Punjab a tough team to beat. They need to win to keep their Indian Premier League semi-final hopes alive.
Best Bet for Kings XI Punjab:
Yuvraj Singh – 9/10
Mahela Jayawardene – 8/10
Simon Katich – 8/10
Piyush Chawla – 7/10
S Sreesanth – 7/10
