Match 52: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians

April 19, 2010 by Editor · Leave a Comment

Venue – Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

Head to Head: Royal Challengers Bangalore – 3; Mumbai Indians – 2

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Bangalore is almost through to the semis with a superior run rate but they would like to win their final match against formidable Mumbai to gain some momentum going into the next stage. On the other hand, Bangalore will look to give chance to the likes of Rahul Dravid, Ross Taylor and Kevin Pietersen to play as many overs as possible as they got limited opportunities in the matches so far. Praveen Kumar may get a look in.

Best bet for Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rahul Dravid – 9/10

Kevin Pietersen – 8/10

Anil Kumble – 8/10

Ross Taylor – 8/10

Pankaj Singh – 8/10

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai are sitting comfortably at the top of the table with a semi-final spot already secured. Therefore they would like to sort their combinations out before heading into the knockout stage. Shaiker Dhawan will be back in place of Jayasuria or Chandan Madan, both of whom failed to grab their opportunities. Malinga and Pollard are certainties, so it will be a tossup between Ryan McLaren, Dwayne Bravo and JP Duminy for the remaining two overseas slots. All-rounder Ali Murtaza has done reasonably well in his only chance to give R Satish some headache but will be interesting to see if he gets another chance today.

Best Bet for Mumbai Indians: Sachin Tendulkar – 9/10

Ambati Rayudu – 9/10

Lasitha Malinga – 8/10

Zaheer Khan – 8/10

Harbajan Singh – 8/10

Match 40: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Deccan Chargers

Indian Premier League 2010, Day 29

Match 40: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Deccan Chargers

Venue – Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

Head to Head: Royal Challengers Bangalore – 3; Deccan Chargers – 2

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The tournament has reached the business end of it but the two finalists of IPL 2 are facing each other for the first time this season. It’s a must win match for both team as a win for Bangalore will give them a sigh of relief as they will take one step further towards the semi-final spot while for Deccan a win will keep the their hopes alive. Bangalore will look to bring Dale Steyn in that will make Cameron White sit out. A move that will also prompt another change to bring in Manish Pandey in place of Abhimanyu Mithun to maintain the balance of the side.

This is Bangalore’s real chance to pay back their defeat in the finals at Wanderers as a Bangalore win will knock Deccan out of the tournament. Anil Kumble has indicated that there will be a shuffle in batting order which means that Rahul Dravid will be back at his usual one down position while Robin Uthappa will play lower down the order.

Best Bet for Royal Challengers Bangalore: Kevin Pietersen – 9/10

Rahul Dravid – 8/10

Dale Steyn – 8/10

Robin Uthappa – 8/10

Anil Kumble – 8/10

Deccan Chargers

A must win game for the defending champions. Captain Gilchrist holds the key as a big knock from him will put Deccan in a winning situation. Except one fifty Gilchirst has been playing little attractive cameos but failed to convert them into big ones. Gibbs should get his place back replacing Dwayne Smith and should open the innings with Gilchirst while Laxman should bat at number three. Deccan’s fringe players like Suman, Venugopal Rao, Bhilakia and Anirudh Singh have not come to the fore and this has hurt Deccan badly. In such a situation, Gilchrist will require to do a Warne in inspiring these lesser known players to perform.

Best bet for Deccan Chargers: Adam Gilchrist – 9/10

Rohit Sharma – 8/10

Herschelle Gibbs – 8/10

Chaminda Vaas – 8/10

Andrew Symonds – 8/10

Royal Challengers vs. Delhi Daredevils

May 19, 2009 by Editor · Leave a Comment

It’s crunch time for the Bangalore Royal Challengers (2.15) when they take on the Delhi Daredevils (1.70) at New Wanders in Johannesburg today. Needing successive wins from their remaining two games, the Challengers must first overcome the Indian Premier League’s most impressive franchise – a task that may prove to be just a little too much  for a side that has so far struggled to find consistency and form.

IPL match preview:

Bangalore Royal Challengers

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 12, Won – 6, Lost – 6

To secure their place in the top four the Bangalore Royal Challengers must win both of their remaining matches, starting with today’s pivotal encounter against the IPL’s strongest team the Delhi Daredevils. The Challengers are coming out of a four day break which should see them fresh and battle ready, however, besides the Ross Taylor show, their batting remains an area of concern. They need Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis to play the anchor roles, with the rest of the order hitting the big shots around them. Dale Steyn should be brought back in to test Delhi’s openers.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royal Challengers:

Rahul Dravid – 9/10
Anil Kumble- 9/10
Jacques Kallis – 9/10
Ross Taylor – 8/10
Dale Steyn -7/10

Delhi Daredevils

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 12, Won – 9, Lost – 3

The Daredevils would love to see their captain Virender Sehwag back in form before the knock-out stage of the tournament. Otherwise, the team is perfectly balanced and is playing almost flawless Twenty20 cricket. Delhi will be determined to keep their winning momentum going, as even a single loss can change a team’s fortunes dramatically in cricket’s baby version.

Best Bet for Delhi Daredevils:

Ashish Nehra – 9/10
Virender Sehwag – 8/10
AB DeVillers – 8/10
T Dilshan – 8/10
Amit Mishra – 8/10

Royal Challengers vs. Super Kings

May 14, 2009 by Editor · Leave a Comment

With the battle to secure a place in the IPL final four raging on, Kingsmead in Durban plays host to another superb duo of Indian Premier League fixtures. First up today, the Bangalore Royal Challengers (2.50) face the Chennai Super Kings (1.53) in a pivotal encounter. The Challengers must win to stay in the hunt for a semi-finals spot, while victory for the Super Kings will earn them a well deserved top four berth.

IPL match preview:

Bangalore Royal Challengers

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 11, Won – 5, Lost -6

A brilliant and breathtaking batting display from Ross Taylor saved the day for the Royal Challengers against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous fixture, and it will be crucial that they continue in their winning ways if they are to have any hope of qualifying for the Indian Premier League semi-finals.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royal Challengers:

Jacques Kallis – 9/10
Ross Taylor -8/10
Mark Boucher – 8/10
Anil Kumble – 7/10
Rahul Dravid – 8/10

Chennai Super Kings

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 10, Won – 6, Lost – 3, N/R – 1

The Chennai Super Kings have been ultra-impressive scoring five wins on the bounce, and they are poised to make it six. Matthew Hayden is in divine form and is well supported by a solid middle-order, however, their bowling and fielding is still an area of concern with huge scope for improvement. A win will more or less book them a semi-final spot, while defeat will put them in a spot of bother.

Best Bet for Chennai Super Kings:

MS Dhoni – 9/10
Matthew Hayden- 9/10
Albie Morkal – 8/10
Suresh Raina- 8/10
S Badrinath- 7/10

Royal Challengers vs. Knight Riders

May 12, 2009 by Editor · Leave a Comment

The first of another exciting double-header at Centurion tonight sees wooden spoon franchises Bangalore Royal Challengers (1.67) and Kolkata Knight Riders (2.20) clash in an encounter that may just turn out to be a cracker. Despite featuring star studded line-ups, both teams have underperformed so far in Indian Premier League 2009 and both will be desperate to avoid finishing last in the tournament. If there was ever a time for a resurgent display against a vulnerable foe, this is it.

IPL match preview:

Bangalore Royal Challengers

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 10, Won – 4, Lost -6

Following two successive losses, the situation is not looking good for the Royal Challengers. After taking over the captaincy from Kevin Pietersen Anil Kumble led a mini-revival, but now with his team in slump again he faces a massive task to lift spirits in the dressing room and reignite intensity on the field. Disciplined cricket will be required from here on in if the Challengers are to avoid further decline.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royal Challengers:

Rahul Dravid – 8/10
Jacques Kallis -8/10
Virat Kohli – 8/10
Anil Kumble – 7/10
Praveen Kumar – 6/10

Kolkata Knight Riders

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 10, Won – 1, Lost – 8, N/R – 1

It appears as if there is no relief for the Knight Riders. Sloppy fielding, poor batting and chaotic bowling paints a disappointing picture of their performance in Indian Premier League 2009 so far. Murali Karthik is yet to pick up a wicket in the tournament, but is still figuring in the playing XI. David Hussy immediately replace Henriques as well.

Best Bet for Kolkata Knight Riders:

Sourav Ganguly – 9/10
David Hussey- 8/10
Brad Hodge – 8/10
Ishant Sharma- 7/10
Brendon McCullum – 6/10

Royal Challengers vs. Mumbai Indians

May 11, 2009 by Editor · Leave a Comment

At least one thing will be reliable when the Bangalore Royal Challengers face off against the Mumbai Indians in Port Elizabeth – the pitch. The average first innings total at the ground has been 162! Unfortunately, the same kind of consistency has been lacking from both franchises.  Bangalore enjoys the richest vein of form, however Mumbai is bolstered by the return of Jayasuriya.

IPL match preview:

Bangalore Royal Challengers

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 9, Won – 4, Lost -5

Bangalore hold a slight upper hand over Mumbai in the points table and they will be desperate to score another two points here. The team is in good spirits despite their loss to the Rajasthan Royals in their last match. Bangalore has no injury worries, unlike Mumbai.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royal Challengers:

Rahul Dravid – 8/10
Mark Boucher -8/10
Robin Uthappa – 7/10
Anil Kumble – 7/10
Praveen Kumar – 7/10

Mumbai Indians

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 9, Won – 3, Lost -5, N/R – 1

It’s almost Mission Impossible for the Mumbai Indians, unless they win their next five matches in a row. They are too dependent on their openers Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuria, and every time they fail the team struggles to post 140-runs on board. Injury concerns for Zaheer Khan doesn’t help their casue as their bowlers are taking a beating too.

Best Bet for Mumbai Indians:

Sachin Tendulkar – 9/10
Sanath Jayasuria – 8/10
JP Duminy – 7/10
Harbajan Singh – 7/10
Dhawal Kulkarni – 7/10

Aussies Anticipate IPL Medical Clearance

May 8, 2009 by Editor · Leave a Comment

Five Australian cricketers, Brett Lee and James Hopes (Kings XI Punjab), Andrew Symonds (Deccan Chargers), Nathan Bracken (Bangalore Royal Challengers) and David Hussey (Kolkata Knight Riders) are expecting medical clearance to participate in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

The IPL is seen as the right platform to get into shape for the upcoming ICC World T20 in England in June. Australian Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch was in favor of the move and said, “As far as I know, Brett will be heading to the IPL to get some more cricket in. He is keen to get in some more overs before the World Twenty20 and the Ashes. We aren’t standing anyone down from the IPL after the Pakistan series.”

The arrival of the Aussies will boost the hopes of IPL franchises as they battle for a semi-final berth. Andrew Symonds would be the biggest attraction of all, bolstering the Deccan middle-order with more fire power. The presence of James Hopes and Brett Lee couldn’t have come any better time than now for Kings XI Punjab, while the Chennai Super King’s player Michael Hussey has communicated his interest in taking part if his team makes the IPL semi-final and finals.

A change in guard has seen a dramatic shift in fortunes for the Royal Challengers and the animated, but focused, old fox Anil Kumble has been pivotal in their new found success. Bangalore enters this encounter buoyed by three consecutive wins. Expect the atmosphere to be vibrant, and the cricket sublime, when they take on the rejuvenated Royals.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royals Challengers:

Rahul Dravid – 9/10

Anil Kumble – 8/10
D du Preez – 7/10

Rajasthan Royals

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 8, Won – 4, Lost – 3, N/R – 1

A magnificent all-round display by the Rajasthan Royals makes them a top contender for a semi-final spot. After repeated failures their batsmen have final come good, which will make Shane Warne believe they have a realistic chance. Their openers look in tremendous touch, and a good platform will give the likes of Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja the chance to go blazing.

Best Bet for Rajasthan Royals:

Yusuf Pathan – 9/10
Graeme Smith- 9/10
Naman Ojha – 8/10
Ravindra Jadeja- 8/10

Mumbai Indians

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 6, Won – 3, Lost – 2, N/R – 1

A spate of mixed results is an ill reflection of Mumbai’s consistent performance in IPL 2009 thus far.  They will be hoping for a better start from their experienced opening duo Sachin and Sanath, who are supported by a dynamite middle order featuring the likes of Duminy, Bravo and Nayar. With Malinga and Zaheer operating the new ball, their attack is menacing and efficient.

Best Bet for Mumbai Indians:

Sachin Tendulkar – 9/10
Sanath Jayasuria – 9/10
JP Duminy – 8/10
Lasitha Malinga – 8/10
Zaheer Khan – 8/10

Bangalore Royal Challengers

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 7, Won – 3, Lost – 4

With two wins on the bounce, the Royal Challengers have announced a return to form and it is advised that the other IPL franchises take note. In the absence of both Rahul Dravid and Kevin Pietersen, the side has done remarkably well to end a tide of negative results. Anil Kumble is visibly at his aggressive best and is leading the side commendably, however they need to resolve the ongoing confusion surrounding their batting order – the faster, the better.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royal Challengers:

Anil Kumble – 9/10
Praveen Kumar – 9/10
RE van der Merwe – 8/10
Mark Boucher – 8/10
KP Appanna – 7/10

Royal Challengers vs. Kings XI Punjab

May 1, 2009 by Editor · Leave a Comment

Kings XI Punjab convincingly defeated the Bangalore Royal Challengers in their first round encounter. However, both teams are riding high on the back of recent wins setting up a cracker of a contest. The Durban wicket was originally thought to favour batsmen, but with low scores in both previous games held at the Kingsmead ground it’s difficult to know what to expect. Scout the conditions and they place your bets with the confidence of knowledge – Canbet.com’s live in run cricket betting service allows you to bet on every twist and turn of the game.

IPL match preview:

Bangalore Royal Challengers

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 6, Won – 2, Lost – 4

Bangalore, buoyed by their last over win against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last match, will hope to keep the momentum flowing with another victory today – a task made slightly more difficult with the absence of Kevin Pietersen and Rahul Dravid. Without the two key batsmen, their middle order looks bleak with only Mark Boucher to depend on.

Best Bet for Bangalore Royal Challengers:Â

Jacques Kallis – 9/10
Anil Kumble – 9/10
Mark Boucher – 8/10
Virat Kohli – 8/10
Ross Taylor – 7/10

Kings XI Punjab

IPL 2009 so far: Played – 5, Won – 3, Lost – 2

Punjab have made a remarkable comeback since their poor start in IPL 2009. They’ve won three on the bounce after losing their first two. The highlight of their performance so far has been the inspiring show by their bowlers in the absence of Brett Lee and Sreesanth. Yusuf Abdulla has been a revelation and is well supported by Irfan Pathan with the new ball. Look for Ravi Bopara to make a strong showing and finish his IPL season on a high note.

Best Bet for Kings XI Punjab:

Kumar Sangakkara – 10/10
Yuvraj Singh – 9/10
Yusuf Abdulla – 8/10
Ravi Bopara – 7/10
Piyush Chwala – 7/10
