Aussies Anticipate IPL Medical Clearance

Five Australian cricketers, Brett Lee and James Hopes (Kings XI Punjab), Andrew Symonds (Deccan Chargers), Nathan Bracken (Bangalore Royal Challengers) and David Hussey (Kolkata Knight Riders) are expecting medical clearance to participate in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

The IPL is seen as the right platform to get into shape for the upcoming ICC World T20 in England in June. Australian Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch was in favor of the move and said, “As far as I know, Brett will be heading to the IPL to get some more cricket in. He is keen to get in some more overs before the World Twenty20 and the Ashes. We aren’t standing anyone down from the IPL after the Pakistan series.”

The arrival of the Aussies will boost the hopes of IPL franchises as they battle for a semi-final berth. Andrew Symonds would be the biggest attraction of all, bolstering the Deccan middle-order with more fire power. The presence of James Hopes and Brett Lee couldn’t have come any better time than now for Kings XI Punjab, while the Chennai Super King’s player Michael Hussey has communicated his interest in taking part if his team makes the IPL semi-final and finals.
